Rockcod
Rockcod opened May 1, below Pigeon Point. You can fish out to 40 fathoms (240 feet) this year. It doesn't open above Pigeon Point until June 1, where the maximum depth will be 30 fathoms (180 feet). The May 1 opener was a little slow for the rockfish, but anglers still caught fish, many limited anyway. The Huli Cat had 7 lingcod for 12 anglers and many big reds and balck rockfish, below Pigeon Point. As we move closer to summer, expect the bite to pickup. The early springtime is when the rockfish have thier minds more on breeding than feeding.

Salmon
Salmon fishing has been a little on the slow side. The boats are getting 1 to 10 fish per boat. Commercial salmon opened May 1, below Pigeon Point. There will be more eyes on the water and commercial salmon fishermen can fish deeper. Expect more reports soon.

Tuna
Tuna fishing does not usually start unitl about mid-July. we will update you on that when the season arrives!

Crab
The Dungeness crab season is winding to a close. It opens up again in November. Crabbing is still good.

Humboldt Squid
The squid left the area a couple weeks early this year. The cold water was propbably the major influence on that. Expect them to return about September on. Best months are usually December through February.
