Captain Jim Smith has been running sport fishing boats for over 30 years. Both of his sons also skipper charter boats. Jim started as a deckhand on the Holiday I on Monterey Bay's Cannery Row nearly 40 years ago. He came up to the Bay area in the 1960's and started fishing out of Pt. San Pablo. A few years later he moved his boat to Berkeley, where he has been ever since. His son, James, also skippers the Happy Hooker. The younger Jim started as a deckhand for his dad when he was only ten years old, and has been a skipper now for over six years.
